Joey has guided professionally for eight years now, and within those eight years he has guided on five different rivers ranging from Class II to Class V. His personal goal as a River guide is to provide an unforgettable experience for his guests while helping people break away from their everyday life and worries by using nature. His passion in the sport of whitewater is definitely kayaking! Joey has kayaked incredible rivers in multiple countries, and is always challenging himself to step out of his comfort zone and push his limits as a kayaker.

Joan grew up traveling all over the US, pilot/colonels daughter. She found peace in whitewater and the mountains that surround it. The mother of an amazing daughter, Joan loves to write and draw, hike, is a movie buff, and music fanatic. She is forever searching for different colors in the sunset. A self-described class clown with a serious Alabama twang, a trip with Joan will keep you laughing!

Shane - Trip Leader

Shane has been working as a whitewater raft guide for 21 seasons. With certifications in Swift Water Rescue and Wilderness First Responder, Shane has the experience and knowledge to show our guests an exceptional time on the river. His favorite thing about being a guide: "Sharing the experience of the river with people and the camaraderie of the other guides and my co-workers at Big Creek Expeditions." Shane is a talented musician, graduating with honors from the College of Charleston with degrees in Jazz Guitar and Music and Composition Theory.
